FeedGhost has three main sections: the toolbar, the subscriptions tree, and the tabs. The first tab always contains the articles viewer, and if you choose the "list" style in the setup wizard, the articles list will also be visible.
The toolbar is a row of buttons for the most common commands within FeedGhost. Commands are grouped by what they operate on. All buttons have tooltips; just "hover" your mouse to display more information about a particular button. Depending on the size of the FeedGhost window, some buttons may be smaller than others.
This displays individual articles from your subscriptions. Unread articles are displayed with a brighter header color; read articles are dimmed.
When in "river view" mode, the current article is displayed with a thicker border. When you choose a command from the toolbar, it will act on the selected article.
When you scroll past an article, using any of the navigation methods, it will be marked as read.
When in "list" mode, the current article is the one that is selected in the articles list. When you choose a command from the toolbar, it will act on the list selection.
At the bottom of each article are command links which act on that specific article.
FeedGhost uses tabs to display various pages of information. The left-most tab is always the articles page. If there is only one page of information, the tabs will be hidden to save space. To switch between tabs, simply click the header. Most tabs can be closed by clicking the small 'X' on the right of the header.
FeedGhost will remember which tabs you had open, so you can use this as a convenient method of keeping web-pages open for later reference.
This displays a tree of all your subscriptions, arranged into folders. It also displays your tag categories (see "tagging" for more information). If you've deleted subscriptions, you'll also be able to see a "Deleted Subscriptions" item.
Folders in the tree may be collapsed or expanded by clicking the small triangles at the left of each item. The number of unread articles is shown in brackets beside each item; subscriptions and folders which have unread articles are marked in bold; those without are in normal type.
Each item in the tree has commands associated with it; simply right-click to display these.
Only one copy of FeedGhost will run at a time, so if FeedGhost is already running and you launch a new copy, the existing one will be brought on screen.
You can choose to send FeedGhost to the notification tray by clicking the "send to tray" button on the titlebar.
Once in the tray, clicking on the icon will launch it again.
