If you're already using another blog reader, you can usually export your subscriptions as OPML, and then import them into FeedGhost as a whole.
Simply save your exported subscriptions somewhere, click the "Import" button on the toolbar in FeedGhost, and choose the OPML file you just saved. The subscriptions tree will populate with the exported feeds.
If you know the web address of a blog, you can subscribe by clicking the "Add" button on the toolbar and entering the address. (If there is an address in the clipboard it will be automatically pasted).
Clicking "Go" (the green arrow button) will begin to search for the feed. Note that you can also paste normal web addresses here as well and FeedGhost will try to locate a feed for that page.
If just one feed can be found, it will be displayed with a title as shown below.
Alternatively, if more than one feed is found for the given address, they will be displayed in a list. The subscribe and unsubscribe operations apply to the selected feed in the list.
Whether FeedGhost has discovered one feed or many, you can subscribe and unsubscribe using the appropriate buttons. When subscribing, choose a folder to place the feed into and click 'OK'.
If the feed you are subscribing to requires authentication, you will be prompted for a username and password. Simply enter the correct details and click "Go". If you subscribe to the feed, these details will be retained and used when refreshing the feed in future.
Most web browsers support drag-and-drop of web addresses. To locate feeds from a web-browser, simply drag the address into the FeedGhost subscriptions tree. The "Add Subscription" tab page will open and start scanning. This tab can then be used in the same way as described above.
If you use Firefox, there's an easier way to subscribe. Grab our Firefox add-on from:
http://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/4469/
You can then simply click RSS links within webpages, or the orange RSS button on the Firefox address bar.
While reading news articles, you can click links to open new browser tabs. If FeedGhost detects that the current web page has a feed associated with it, the "Subscribe" button will light up. Clicking this button will launch the "Add Subscription" wizard for that webpage.
Depending on various factors, detecting webpage feeds may take a while. While FeedGhost is scanning for feeds, the button will animate.
Clicking RSS links directly from the browser tab will now make use of the new tabbed subscription browser. Note that there may be a short delay during which the feed XML may display briefly. To return to the browser, click the green back button.
